Maralyn C. DeWall, age 93, of Boonville, Mo., passed away onOctober 29, 2024, at Ashley Manor in Boonville.
Maralyn was born in Moorland, Iowa, on March 25, 1931, a daughter of Chris and Agnes Walrod Mortensen. She married Walter DeWall, and he preceded her in death. Maralyn loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed being a farm wife and helping on the family farm. Other favorite activities included fishing, and her son remembers that she always had time to help with his sporting activities during his younger years, including playing basketball with him and assisting with his Little League ball practices. Although she preferred to work outdoors, she always made sure they had a good meal prepared with a homemade dessert. Maralyn enjoyed being active and continued to care for her lawn at her home until recently.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Tom DeWall of New Franklin; a brother, Chuck Mortensen of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; two grandchildren, Chris DeWall and wife, P.J. and Mark DeWall; great grandchildren, Hailey Meyer, Heidi DeWall, Hope DeWall, and Axel DeWall; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Maralyn was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Janie DeWall, and sisters, Shirley Slotten, Doris Slotten, Ardis Behrends, and Esther Hall.
