Margaret F. Rogers, age 94, passed peacefully in her sleep on January 21, 2022, in Independence, Missouri. Her children honored her request not to put her passing in the newspaper until after her ashes were spread in the spring.

Born November 30, 1927, in Glasgow, Missouri, she was one of eight children born to Elic and Ada Crowley (Corinne, Billy, Walter, Junior, Margaret, Emmit, Mary, and Kathryn) with the youngest, Kathryn Uthlaut, being the only remaining sibling. Having moved to Fayette when still young, she considered Fayette her hometown. She graduated at the top of her class from Fayette High School in 1946.

She married Silas Crutchfield on April 20, 1946, and they lived in rural Fayette when after almost 22 years of marriage Silas was killed in an explosion in Moberly, Missouri. Silas and Margaret had two children, Roy and Mary (Sue). Roy Crutchfield resides in Conway, Arkansas with his wife Vickie, and Mary and her husband Roger Herrera live in Independence, Missouri. Margaret had three grandchildren: Roy’s two sons, Justin and Eric Crutchfield, and Mary’s son, Kent Lucas. Kent battled cancer and preceded his grandmother in death in 2010 at the age of 42. She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and 15 nieces and nephews who loved her.

Margaret married R.W. Rogers in 1970 and moved to his hometown of Marshall, Missouri where she helped him raise the youngest two and became “Mom” to all four boys: Terry, Ritchie, Marc, and Brent. She lived in Marshall until R.W. passed at the age of 84

The family honored her wishes that there be no funeral or public gathering upon her death. She was a very private person in life and wanted her loved ones to say their goodbyes in private as well.
