Fayette resident, Marion Smiley, 86, passed away March 9, 2022, at Ashely Manor in Boonville, Missouri.
Marion Dale Smiley was born in Brunswick, Missouri on November 13, 1935, a son to the late Clarence and Opal (Burton) Smiley. Marion graduated from Armstrong High School with the class of 1954. Upon graduating, Marion enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served his country as a Medical Corpsman and was honorably discharged on August 18, 1960. On June 13, 1958, Marion married the love of his life, Lala Marie Smith, in Boonesboro, Missouri. As a couple, they enjoyed more than 61 years of marriage. Lala preceded him in death on March 20, 2020. Marion had a strong work ethic, being a lifelong farmer. Throughout his career, he tended to his livestock, which included cattle, sheep, and hogs. In his free time, Marion enjoyed attending auctions.
Survivors include his son, Dale Smiley of Farmington, Missouri; grandson, Billy (Allison Holem) Smiley of Fayette, Missouri; and three great-grandchildren, Nikita, Shawn, and Sierra.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Macon, Missouri, with Rev. Albert Oetman officiating.
