Fayette resident, Mikey Shiflett, age 52, passed away suddenly on his farm on December 27, 2022.

Michael Ray Shiflett was born March 2, 1970 in Fayette, a son to the late James Alfred “Jimmy” and Patsy (Cole) Shiflett. He graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1989. On August 21, 1993, Mikey married Melissa “Missy” Bias. Together they had a son whom they love and cherish, Jayden. Mikey was a ‘jack of all trades.’If anybody wanted something done right, they’d call Mikey Shiflett. There wasn’t a piece of machinery that Mikey couldn’t operate and maintain. Loader, track hoe, crane, folk lift, dump truck, Mikey operated them all. Throughout his career Mikey held numerous jobs including Shiflett Construction, J&J Sanitation, Boone Quarries, Ray-Carroll Grain Growers, Inc., Skyline Materials, and most recently, Phoenix Manufacturing. On top of being able to operate literally any piece of heavy equipment, Mikey was an accomplished welder. He also did a lot of tree trimming and snow removal for people in the community. Mikey was also a member of the Fayette Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years. He was lovingly known by his friends as “Mr. Clean,” and he had a smile that would light up the room. Mikey was a wonderful daddy, and enjoyed teaching his son, Jayden, the value of hard work, and being proud of your name.

Survivors include his wife, Missy Shiflett of Fayette, Missouri; son, Jayden Michael Shiflett of Fayette, Missouri; three brothers, Dean (Wanda) Shiflett of Armstrong, Missouri, Scotty (Pam) Shiflett of Fayette, Missouri and Billy Shiflett of Columbia, Missouri; special grandmother, Odell McClammer of Fayette, Missouri; and father and mother-in-law J.C. and Loretta Bias.

In addition to his parents, Mikey was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Shiflett, “Mamaw and Papaw” Shiflett, as well as his Grandma Herrick.

Visitation for Mikey will be  from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Faith Family Church in Fayette.  Memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 12 p.m. at Faith Family Church, with Pastor Jamie Page officiating.  Inurnment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Jayden Michael Shiflett Education Fund, c/o Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service, 174 Hwy. 5 & 240 N., Fayette, MO 65248.
