Mildred Louise (Tucker) Grapes, 98, formerly of Higbee, Mo. died March 21, 2020 at the Laurie Care Center in Laurie, Mo.
Mildred was born August 22, 1921 in Higbee to Arnold and Clara (Ancell) Tucker. She married Herman T. Grapes. He preceded her in death. To this union were born two sons, Ronald and Eddie Joe.
In her younger years, she worked at Montgomery Ward’s in Kansas City and had a love for the bargain basement and a passion for shoes. Mildred was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church and a 55-year member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Ronald and wife, Gwen of Versailles; a grandson, Ronald and wife, Laura of Stoutland; daughter-in-law, Helen Grapes of Lohman; two granddaughters, Penny Beckham and husband, Montnie of Marshfield and Mindy Bess and husband, Nate of Jefferson City; 17 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mildred was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Joe Grapes; granddaughter, Tina Grapes; granddaughter-in-law, Valentina Grapes; and a brother, Curtis Tucker.
Due to the current public health guidelines a private family graveside service limited to ten attendees will be held at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church Cemetery near Higbee. Please send online condolences to the family and let them you know you care. Phone calls and cards would also be appreciated.
