Minor, moderate injuries in Midway crash

Posted

A two-vehicle crash at Midway during the Monday morning commute sent four people to the hospital with minor and moderate injuries. The crash occurred around 8 a.m. and shut down both lanes of Highway 40 for a period.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Robert P. Greenwood, 66, of Fayette, was westbound on Highway 40, just west of Cunningham Drive across from Midway Travel Stop. He stopped his 2022 Chevrolet 4500 pickup while waiting on a turn and was struck from behind by a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan driven by Daniel S. Ploudre, 27, of Columbia.

Mr. Greenwood was taken to University Hospital via ambulance with minor injuries. Mr. Ploudre sustained moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital along with two minor children, aged 1 and 2, with minor injuries. All four were wearing seatbelts, according to the report.

Mr. Greenwood’s truck sustained moderate damage. Mr. Ploudre’s SUV was towed from the scene with extensive damage.
