Mitchell Gaylon Thoma, 57, of Wichita, Kansas, and formerly of New Franklin, passed away on January 23, 2022, at Life Care of Wichita.
Mitchell was born in Fayette on April 9, 1964, a son of the late Merle “Jack” Thoma and Betty Wells Thoma. Mitchell attended New Franklin High School where he excelled in playing baseball and also played basketball while in school. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Mitchell was formerly employed as the owner and operator of a construction restoration business in St. Louis specializing in fire damage restoration. He had also been employed with Over Head Door Company and as a carpenter. Another of Mitchell’s favorite hobbies was golfing.
Survivors include two children, Dalton Thoma and Samantha Thoma; two brothers, Jeff Brengarth and Randy Thoma; three sisters, Lydia Sartain, Jackie Thoma, and Lisa McKinney; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mitchell was preceded in death by a niece, Buffy Hendrix.
Services honoring Mitchell’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 27 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with Rev. Harold Young officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.
