The Missouri Department of Transportation has closed off a portion of Missouri Route 3 near where it intersects with US Route 24 in Randolph County because the road could slide away due to the oversaturated ground.
The closure occurred on Monday. Route 3 is the road taken by many here to go to Moberly. To detour around the closure, drivers should use Route BB to Route A to Morley Street in Moberly.
MoDOT’s website states that the closure will be indefinite until the slope has stabilized and the area is safe to travel. Drivers who move barricades and drive into the area could cause further damage.
“Additional rain in the area is expected throughout the week, and we will continue to monitor the condition of the area,” said MoDOT engineer Brian Untiedt.
