Write-in candidates drew voters to the polls in Glasgow on Tuesday, June 2. Glasgow recorded a 30.05-percent voter turnout, the highest in the county.
Write-in candidate David Monnig defeated Jason Wright for Mayor of Glasgow. Longtime Mayor Fred Foley resigned on November 18.
In the race for Central Ward Alderman, Larry Neville successfully challenged incumbent Renna Bean to narrowly win the seat 26-23. Eric A. Monnig and Joseph Gibbs, incumbents for the north and south wards, respectively, both ran unopposed.
One of two incumbents in a hot Glasgow school board race was re-elected. David McKenzie won with the highest vote total of 268. Newcomers Kent Sanders and Chad R. Fuemmeler were elected with 231 and 184 votes, respectively. Lee Ann Lawson came up just 28 votes short with 156. Incumbent Tamara Monnig earned the fewest votes with 112.
In Armstrong, Mayor Harley Owen was re-elected after running unopposed. Write-in candidate Rebecca Kurtz and Korey Wood won uncontested races for the east and west wards, respectively.
