New Franklin 62, Pilot Grove 42
Tyler Perkins had 29 points as New Franklin earned a 62-42 win at Pilot Grove on Tuesday.
“This was another tough road conference game against another solid opponent,” New Franklin coach Ross Dobson said.
The Bulldogs improved to 14-0 and 4-0 in the Central Activities Conference.
Gavin Bishop scored 14 points and Tre Cowans had 12. Tysen Dowell added five.
New Franklin led 18-12 after one quarter and 31-22 at the half. The Bulldogs allowed just five points in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 45-27.
“We were able to string together a few plays in the third and fourth to help us extend our lead,” Dobson said. “We now turn our focus to our next conference game and we will need to concentrate on the task at hand.”
New Franklin 47, Pilot Grove 41
A big second quarter helped the New Franklin girls leave Pilot Grove with a 47-41 win on Tuesday.
“This was a great for us to get a win on the road, especially a conference game,” New Franklin coach Morgan Vetter said.
New Franklin trailed 10-6 after one quarter, but went 10-18 from the free-throw line in the second quarter and led 24-17 at the half. Kristen Flick scored nine of her ten points during the Lady Bulldogs’ 18-point second quarter. Each team scored eight points in the third quarter.
Addy Salmon scored eight points and Abby Maupin finished with seven. Carly Dorson added five and Madelyn Chaney had four.
Faith Painter scored seven of her team-high 11 points in the fourth quarter as New Franklin held on for the win.
“I thought the girls finished strong in picking up a win and showed toughness throughout.”
