The New Franklin baseball team pulled out a late 4-3 victory over New Bloomfield in extra innings at home on Monday.
The teams were tied 1-1 after four innings until New Bloomed scored two runs in the fifth. New Franklin evened the score at 3-3 in the sixth before scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
After falling behind in the count, senior Caleb Hull drew a two-out walk. H scored all the way from first on a hit down the left field line by sophomore Jake Marshall to win the game for New Franklin.
Hull allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks in five innings pitched. He struck out six. Clayton Wilmsmeyer did not allow a run during the final four innings pitched. He gave up five hits and fanned four batters.
“Caleby and Clayton both did a great job pitching out of trouble,” said New Franklin coach Erich Gerding.
Marshall led the offense with two hits. He scored once and drove in one run.
