A 17-year-old juvenile from New Franklin was the driver of a truck involved in a crash that killed a Hallsville teenager Wednesday evening, March 2.
Molly P. Jones, 18, died when the 2005 Ford F-250 pickup truck in which she was riding ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a concrete culvert, and overturned, according to a crash report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The one-vehicle accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. on March 2 on Highway 124 near Dodd Road between Harrisburg and Highway 63.
The unidentified juvenile sustained moderate injures and was taken to University Hospital by private conveyance. He was wearing a seatbelt.
Jones was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the patrol’s report. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Boone County fire District Captain John Timmermann and was transported to the Boone/Callaway Medical Examiner’s office.
The accident marked the second fatal crash of the day for Troop F. An eight-year-old St. Louis boy was killed in a two-vehicle crash on US 54 in Callaway County that same night. So far in 2022, 20 people have died on central Missouri roadways patrolled by Troop F.
