The New Franklin Board of Education bid farewell to outgoing superintendent Brian Cordel at its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday June 15.
“I just wanted to thank you for the last four years,” Board President Jeff Chitwood told Cordel, “for all your leadership.”
“Actually, for the most part, I enjoyed it!” Cordel responded to laughter.
The meeting was short, lasting under thirty minutes, and the board unanimously approved the 2022-23 preliminary budget and a final amendment of the 2021-22 budget.
The board established food service pricing for the coming school year at $2.30 for lunches. “We cannot go below that $2.30,” Cordel told the board “to meet federal guidelines. We haven’t charged our students for two years.” The new rate for breakfast will be $1.55.
Free and reduced breakfast and lunch prices will remain at $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch.
The New Franklin BOE regularly meets on the third Wednesday of each month at the high school. The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20. Meetings are open and the public is invited.
