Isabelle Matney was 3-4 and Kelsi Fair homered in New Franklin’s 11-1 win over Pilot Grove on Thursday.
The Lady Bulldogs got off to a great start with four runs in the first inning, and scored in every inning of the game. Fair’s 2-run homer in the sixth sent everyone home an inning early.
"It was a good rebound game from last night," New Franklin coach Ross Dowell said. "I thought we were able to grind out some runs and made some nice defensive plays."
Abby Maupin led off the game with a single and scored on an error. Matney drove in second run of the game with a single to left field. Sophia Held and Jayna Matthews each had an RBI single in the first inning as well.
Maupin was 2-3 with a walk. Held finished 2-4 and Mathews was 1-2 with a walk.
Pilot Grove got on the scoreboard in the third inning with a single and a double.
Alexia Sprick earned the win, allowing just one run on five hits and one walk. Held pitched the sixth inning and just one batter reached base on an error.
Kayce Hundley finished 2-4 with an RBI and Carly Dorson drove in a run.
Held led off the final inning with a double and Fair hit the ball over the left field fence to end the game.
