A four-run third inning propelled New Franklin to a 6-1 win over Higbee on Thursday.
Tysen Dowell had an RBI single, stole third base and scored on a passed ball to turn a one-run lead into a 4-1 advantage for New Franklin.
Dowell finished 2-4 at the plate.
Colton Collyott scored on Sam Marshall’s single later in the inning.
Collyott had a hit and drew three walks. Marshall finished 2-3. Tanner Bishop had a double in the sixth inning. Clayton Wilmsmeyer and Owen Armentrout each had a hit as well.
Keaton Eads held the Tigers without a baserunner over the final three innings. He allowed one run on three hits and a walk with nine strikeouts.
Anthony White went 1-2 at the plate for Higbee. Jamie Smith had a hit and Derek Rockett had a hit and scored a run in the first inning. Rockett took the loss, allowing six hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out seven and all six Bulldog runs were unearned.
New Franklin improved to 3-3, while Higbee drops to 2-2 on the season.
