They say no man is an island, but in the case of New Franklin senior Douglas Creason, that just isn’t true.
Creason is the sole member of the boys’ X-country team at New Franklin. Not only is he the only male, but there is also no girls’ high school team.
Those facts have certainly not slowed Creason down. Sure, there is the junior high team which consists of six boys (eighth-graders Lane Hackman, Nolan McGowan, Caden Schlotzhauer, and Landon Shaw along with seventh-graders Daniel Hackman and Joshua Marshall), and three girls (eighth graders Lydia Burnett, Lilly Chitwood, and Stella Matyas), but Creason still runs as the lone high school runner.
On September 4, Creason competed in the Mexico 5k finishing 32nd out of 90 runners. On September 9, he competed at the Marshall x-country meet finishing eighth out of 37 runners. On September 11, Creason placed 38th out of 103 at the Father Tolton meet.
He will compete next at the Moberly Invitational on September 30.
