Nine local juniors from Fayette, Glasgow, and New Franklin high schools have been selected to attend the 2025 Missouri Boys State and Missouri Girls State programs, marking the largest group ever sent from Howard County. The week-long civic leadership programs will be held June 21–28 at Lindenwood University in St. Charles.
Representing Howard County at Missouri Boys State are Payton Oeth of Fayette, son of Kim and Andy Oeth; Miles Elson of Glasgow, son of Jessica and Mathew Elson; and Nolan McGowan of New Franklin, son of Stacy and Christopher McGowan.
Attending Missouri Girls State from are Payton Kindle, daughter of Tommy and Tonya Kindle; Eleanor Doolin, daughter of Emily and Brent Doolin; Clara Gose, daughter of Mallory and Brian Gose; and Chloe Bier, daughter of Stefanie and John Allphin. Attending from Glasgow is Maggie Kramm, daughter of Lauren Kramm.
These prestigious programs offer hands-on instruction in the fundamentals of state and local government. Students participate in mock elections, legislative sessions, and city planning, gaining experience in public service, leadership, and civic engagement.
The following local organizations helped sponsor this year’s participants: New Franklin PTO, Rotary Club of Fayette, BTC Bank, Commercial Trust Company, and Howard County American Legion Post 273.
