The No. 1 Central Methodist men’s soccer program secured a 1-1 draw against Clarke University Saturday afternoon in Dubuque, Iowa.
The Eagles now stand at 3-0-3 and 0-0-2 in conference play, while the Pride move to 3-0-2 and 0-0-2 in Heart action.
Central’s offense jumped out in front quickly with a goal from Koen Schimmel in the fifth minute of the first half, with the assist from Kevin Rivera.
The Pride evened the score less than 12 minutes later on an unassisted goal from Jonathan Velasquez. Central and Clarke entered the halftime break even at 1-1, which proved to be the final score, as neither side was able to break through in the second half.
Schimmel earned his first career goal as an Eagle, and finished the match with five shots and two on goal to lead the offensive charge.
Goalkeeper Beer De Vos recorded two saves against three shots on goal in 90 minutes of action between the posts.
Central will next face No. 6 Missouri Valley College for a huge showdown at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Marshall.
