Fayette firemen responded to the report of a fire on the fourth floor of Woodward Hall on the Central Methodist University Campus shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday. Minimal damage was reported after a small fire from unattended cooking broke out, creating significant smoke. The dormitory was evacuated, and firefighters were on scene for about an hour, clearing out the smoke and ensuring the fire had not spread. Members of the Glasgow Fire Department responded as automatic mutual aid. No one was injured, and students were later allowed back into the residence hall.
