Howard County fire fighters work to put out a fire at the new Sunderland Trucking building on Highway 5 south of Fayette, while an employee removes part of the metal roof.
The call came in around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25. No injuries were reported, although the Howard County Ambulance Service was on site.
According to a fire department spokesman, it appeared the fire started around an enclosed HVAC unit and traveled upward toward the roof, spreading among the wooden rafters.
The affected building housed offices. Firemen sprayed down a walkway between the office building and another building with several truck bays to keep the fire from spreading.
The fire was mostly contained within about an hour, although fire personnel continued to revisit the building throughout the week to quell hot spots.
