• FREE vision and hearing screenings for babies through preschoolers Wednesday, July 18 from 5 - 6:30 p.m. at the Parents as Teachers Play Center in the lower level of Fayette High School. MU School of Health Professions professor Barbara McLay and graduate students will provide Otoacoustic Emissions hearing screenings and Amanda Hutson of Head Start will provide Spot Vision screenings.

• NEW FRANKLIN SCHOOL BOARD will meet at 6 p.m., July 18 in the school library.

• ICE CREAM SOCIAL AND DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE SPEAKING in Glasgow, Saturday, July 21 at river overlook. Serving of ice cream, cake, pulled pork sandwiches and drinks begins at 6 p.m., candidates speak at 7 p.m.

• PET VACCINATION CLINIC Tuesday, July 24 at New Franklin City Hall, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

• BOONSLICK WOMEN’S BUSINESS NETWORK will hots its July Meeting from 6-7:30 p.m. July 24 at Beckett’s in Glasgow. Program: Cathy Atkins, CEO of Inside Columbia Magazine, will speak about effective communication and share tips on how to say what’s on your mind without causing confusion or offending others.

• 57th ANNUAL ROANOKE ICE CREAM SOCIAL AND BAND CONCERT will be held Saturday, July 28 in Roanoke. Serving begins at 6 p.m., concert to follow. Proceeds used for maintenance of bandstand.

• SOUTH HOWARD COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM Schools display will be open on Saturday’s and Sunday’s from 1-4 p.m. through July. Come and check out what these one room schools were like, pictures of students, teachers, schools on display.

• ARMSTRONG FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT TAX RATE HEARING & BOARD MEETING Wednesday, August 1 at Fire Station. Tax Rate Hearing at 7:15 p.m. Board meeting to follow.
