Lifelong Fayette, Missouri resident Mary Odell McClammer passed away on May 16, 2025, at Glasgow Gardens at the age of 94.
Odell was the daughter of Jake and Alma Hazel Moyer. In 1949, she married John McClammer in Fayette.
Throughout her life, Odell worked several jobs. Beginning in high school, she worked at Floyd Longs Café and Alsop and Turner Drug Store. After her children entered school, she went to work for the Fayette R-III Schools as a baker in the school cafeteria, where she became famous for her schoolhouse dinner and cinnamon rolls. She also upholstered furniture for 58 years for area residents, businesses, and Central Methodist University. Odell was amazing at taking an older piece of furniture and turning it into something beautiful. Odell and John were members of the First Baptist Church in Fayette.
Odell is survived by her daughter, Wynonna McClammer of Jefferson City; sister, Gladys (Louis) Walker of Fayette; and brother, Jake (Marilyn) Moyer of Fayette.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her son, Howard “Randy” McClammer; her granddaughter, Carie Dawn McClammer; as well as sisters, Julia Theobald and Maggie Hasecuster.
A funeral service honoring Odell’s life will be held at 12 p.m. (noon), Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette with Pastor Sandra Enyard officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will follow the funeral at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Camp Hickory Hill – Central Missouri Diabetic Children’s Camp and Hometown Homecare.
