Only two of five school board races will be on the April 5 ballot. New Franklin and Harrisburg both have three candidates for two open seats. Fayette, Glasgow, and Higbee each have two candidates for two open seats and will therefore not hold elections.
In New Franklin, incumbents Travis Hundley and Kara Schnell, along with newcomer Kevin Beaman have filed for two open seats.
The same situation has emerged in Harrisburg. Incumbents Hal Fisher and Davin Stidham will face challenger Josh Byrd for two open seats.
In Fayette, incumbent and two-time board president Roy D. “Skip” Vandelicht has filed for a second term. Kristen Gibbs has filed for the open seat now held by Amber Overfelt, who announced she will not seek a second term.
Incumbents Bob Draffen and Nikki Gouge will both seek new terms on the Glasgow Board of Education.
For the Higbee school board, incumbents B.J. Westfall and Robert Whisenand have filed for re-election.
Terms for school boards are for three years.
