Paisley BowTique, a flower and gift shop located on South Church Street, a block from the downtown Fayette square, closed its doors this week. Owner Amanda Brand made the announcement on the business’s Facebook page on December 4.
Brand purchased the building that formerly housed Casey’s General Store in March 2013 and opened Paisley BowTique there in August. Since then, the business has expanded its inventory from flowers to clothing, jewelry, and seasonal home decor, among others.
Brand said she plans to keep the business running, albeit in a restructured form.
“I just want to do flowers,” she said.
She plans to launch Paisley Weddings and Events in January.
This new event-based business will focus on providing flower displays for weddings and corporate events. Brand said she plans to offer classes and workshops.
“I’m closing one door and barging through another,” she said.
The plan to restructure the business has been a year in the making. “My heart has been heavy for a while,” Brand said in the video announcement. “I finally feel free.”
Paisley officially closed its doors at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27. Brand will operate Paisley Weddings and Events out of her home in rural Howard County.
