Pridgeon will be presented with Quilt of Valor on July 4

Posted

The Peacemakers Quilters will continue with the tradition of honoring a local veteran with a Quilt of Valor, to be presented during the July 4 Party in the Park. This year’s recipient is U.S. Army Captain Sean Pridgeon.

The ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. at the lower shelter house. A Salute to Veterans will take place there at 4:30 p.m following the parade.

Captain Sean Christopher Pridgeon entered into service as a direct commission officer on April 22, 2010, as a Critical Care Nurse, 66s in the Army Nurse Corps. He received his commission at the US Army Reserve center in Columbia, Missouri.

From 2010 to 2016 he served as a critical care nurse with the 325th Combat Support Hospital (CSH) based out of St. Charles, Missouri. During his time at the 325th CSH he held leadership roles of platoon leader, doctrine and training subject matter expert, training officer, unit prevention leader, officer in charge of army physical fitness test and physical readiness training, applied suicide intervention skill trainer, master resilience trainer, and was the officer in charge of the ICU. He worked to coordinate and implement training for up to 120 soldiers, provided supervision and evaluation for as many as 40 soldiers, and provided logistical support in hospital layout, patient flow, and construction. While assigned to the 325th CSH he was promoted from 2nd Lieutenant to Captain and received the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserves Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

In 2016 Captain Pridgeon was transferred to the 932nd Forward Surgical Team (FST) at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana. There he held leadership roles of chief nurse, officer in charge of the ICU, unit training officer, unit movement officer, and master resiliency trainer.

From May of 2019 to March of 2020 CPT Pridgeon was deployed to Afghanistan with the 932nd FST, Golden Hour Offset Surgical Team (GHOST) in support of Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan. During that deployment, he provided medical and surgical treatment to combat-injured personnel in austere conditions. While deployed Captain Pridgeon was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Combat Device, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device, NATO Medal, and Combat Medical Badge.

During his deployment, he found it interesting how quickly simple luxuries became great joys, like a campfire on a cold hilltop or a homemade fly fishing rod crafted from cattails.

Captain Pridgeon continues to serve with the 932nd Forward Resuscitative Surgical Team (FRST) at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana, as the Chief Nurse and Officer in Charge of the ICU.

Sean resides in Fayette with his wife Amia and four children, Austin, Cullen, Audrey, and Bennett. Sean would like to thank his family for their support during his continued military career and deployment.  As well as the support of the Fayette community, which helped get his children to school, send letters, and care packages during his deployment.
