The City of Fayette will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 15 at City Hall regarding the proposed Community Improvement District (CID). A petition was signed by property owners inside the proposed district to allow the implementation of the CID to be placed on the ballot during the August primary. Only registered voters who reside within the proposed district will be allowed to vote.
The CID would likely place an additional one percent sales tax on purchases made at businesses inside the district. Monies collected may be applied for by property owners within the CID to help fund improvements, which often require higher costs due to the historic nature of many of the buildings. All applications for funding must be approved by a CID board.
A notice, along with a map of the proposed district boundaries appear on page 12 of this newspaper.
