The Fayette Country Quilters invite all to attend a Quilt Trunk show at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17 at Schnell Hall. The show will be presented by Dawn Heese.
A 1986 graduate of Fayette High School, Heese, will present a trunk show titled “Small Town Girl Design.” She is an author, pattern/fabric designer, and award-winning fourth-generation quilter who grew up stitching from a young age.
Hess began her career in the quilting industry with the publication of her first book in 2009. The following year she started her design company, Linen Closet Designs, named for her grandmother's linen closet filled with vintage quilts. The company produces quilt and punch needle patterns as well as fabric designs. Her work is regularly featured in magazines in the U.S. and abroad.
Hess teaches and puts on trunk shows nationally and in France, sharing her love of applique and quilting.
Hess lives in Prairie Home, Missouri with her significant other, Eric, in a 120-year-old farmhouse in the country. She has two grown sons and a grandson, and shares her home with two dogs, and a menagerie of found cats. Her eighth book will be released in September.
The trunk show will be free of charge and area quilters are invited to attend and enjoy the knowledge Dawn can share.
