Motorists traveling on Interstate 70 will experience lane closures and delays at various times over the next several weeks as progress continues at the new Missouri River Bridge near Rocheport and on the replacement of the Sorrels Overpass Road Bridge.
Crews will be blasting north of I-70 and east of the river as preparations for the new bridge. In coordination with Missouri Highway Patrol, crews will conduct brief 15-minute road closures while blasting takes place to protect motorists traveling through the area.
“Safety continues to be our top priority as we work on the new bridges,” said Rocheport Project Director Brandi Baldwin. “The blasting is taking place several hundred feet from Interstate 70. We want to make sure that the road is all clear, and that no rock has made it to the roadway.”
These closures will take place over the next several weeks between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Similar closures will also be required in the coming weeks as part of construction on the new Sorrels Overpass Road Bridge west of Columbia. The bridge was originally closed and demolished last fall. over the coming weeks.
