On Sunday, October 18, 2020, Bob Sears passed away peacefully at the home of his son, Mike (and Ann) Sears, in Plano, Texas, where he resided for the last year.

Bob was born in Shrewsbury, Missouri to Charles H. and Vivian Fosdick Sears. He graduated from high school in Webster Groves, Missouri. Then Bob served in the U.S. Army near the end of the war. He went on to graduate from Central Methodist College where he studied education and excelled at sports. He was later inducted into their athletic hall of fame. In 1954 Bob married Sue Haggard, the daughter of Walter and Lida Haggard of Fayette, Missouri. Bob’s career in education ranged from coach, teacher, principal, and superintendent at several Missouri schools. He valued his positive relationships with many former students and acquaintances. In 1981, Bob retired and moved with Sue to his family's small farm in western Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his three brothers, John Sears of Kirkwood, Missouri; Jim Sears of Walnut Creek, California, and Tom Sears who died in Europe during an air mission in World War II.

Bob is survived by his sons Mike (and Ann) Sears of Plano, Texas and David Sears of Cambridge, Massachusetts; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023.

If it is your wish, the family suggests memorials, in Bob’s name, to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Capital Campaign.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Fennville, Michigan City Cemetery.
