Ronald Kenneth Ray, age 78, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at his daughter’s home in Fayette, MO.
Ronnie was born December 28, 1942, in Shelby County, MO, the son of John Kenneth and Eunice Evelyn (Stuart) Ray.
Ronnie is survived by his children, Debbie Abel (Dan) of Fayette, MO, Dottie Gerlt (Warren) of Fayette, MO, Mack Ray of Fayette, MO, and Jobey Hobbs of TX; eight grandchildren, LaChrisha Frye of New Franklin, MO, Nickie Frye of Baltimore, MD, Dillan Frye of New Franklin, MO, Julie Parrish of Fayette, MO, Gene Gerlt (Li) of Fayette, MO, Justin Gerlt of Fayette, MO, Jodi Gerlt of Fayette, MO, Nathan Gerlt of Fayette, MO; eight great grandchildren; and one niece Joyce Martin of KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marlyn Cochran.
Ronnie loved farming, going on cruises, and playing the trumpet. He had his own band called Ronnie Ray and the Music Makers. Ronnie worked for Hardy Construction for many years and ran a log skidder for his son, Mack.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 1 pm at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Visitation will be held from 11 am to 1 pm at the funeral home in Shelbina on Friday. Burial will be at Shelby Memorial Cemetery in Shelbyville, MO. Memorials can be made to Shelby Memorial Cemetery.
