Ruth Ellen Barber

Ruth Ellen Barber, 69, of St. Peters, Missouri, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022, at St. Peter’s Manor in St. Peters, Missouri. She was born in Moberly, Missouri, on Thursday, Feb 12, 1953, to Floyd and Thelma Case.  

Ruth was a 1971 Graduate of Slater High School. She was a happy homemaker for many years and was later employed in administrative jobs for the Fayette Alternative School and Maxwell Family Chiropractic. Ruth loved people, and although shy when younger, she made it her life’s mission to be friendly and kind to everyone she met. If you met her, you felt loved by her and God. Ruth was a woman of unwavering faith and an example to many people of how to walk firmly in her faith.  

She was a member of Main Street Church, in St. Charles, Missouri, and a former member of Faith Family Church in Fayette, Missouri. Ruth’s favorite activities included reading, word puzzles, and game playing. She was hard to beat in a tough game of Scrabble. Ruth was always available to listen to anyone and share an encouraging word with everyone.  

She leaves behind her children, Brian Barber of Fayette, Missouri; Deborah (CY) Carlson of Fayette, Missouri; Rachel Barber (Lonnie Wolfe) of St. Louis, Missouri; Rebekah Barber of Wentzville, Missouri; and Benjamin (Amber) Barber of Lampasas, Texas.

She also leaves behind her siblings, Rebecca (John) Hodge of O’Fallon, Missouri; John (Michelle) Case of Rockwall, Texas; and Debbie Case of Eureka, Missouri.

Her greatest legacy was the 29 Grandchildren she left behind: *Brian Barber: Jamie Barber, Susie Barber, Aaron Barber, Joannah Barber, David Barber, and Benjamin Barber. *Deborah (Cy) Carlson: Kanen (Vivian) Carlson, Abia Carlson, Charis Carlson, Tobias Carlson, Elijah Carlson, Micah Carlson, Eden Carlson, Beraiah Carlson, and Asher Carlson. *Rachel Barber (Lonnie Wolfe): Alexis Barber, DeVante Barber, Saphyar Wolfe, ZaViera Wolfe, Promyss Wolfe, Lonnie Wolfe, Jr (2012), Leon’Dre Wolfe, Rayne Wolfe, and Ryann Wolfe. *Rebekah Barber: R’Zia Barber, Aneas Smith, and Adones Smith. *Benjamin (Amber) Barber: Brennen Barber, Bridget Barber; three great grandchildren; * DeVante Barber: Amiyah Barber. * Saphyar Wolfe: Archer Weaver. * Kanen (Vivian) Carlson: Baby Carlson (expected August 2022).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd (2016) and Thelma (2007) Case, of Marshall, Missouri, and one grandson, Lonnie James Wolfe, Jr., in April 2012.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 837 Midrivers Mall Dr, St. Peters, MO 63376, https://www.newcomerstlouis.com/   

A Celebration of Life Service honoring Ruth will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, at her church: Main Street Church, 116 N. Main Street, St. Chares, MO 63301, https://churchonmain.com, with burial following at Mt. Zion Cemetery in O’Fallon, Missouri.
