Central Methodist University will welcome Dr. Michael Fryer to campus next month as the speaker for the sixth annual Dr. Harold W. Sunoo World Peace Lecture. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, December 1, on the fourth floor of the Inman Student and Community Center.
Fryer, professor of practice at the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies at the University of San Diego, will present a lecture entitled “How to Complain Effectively.”
Fryer has more than 25 years of experience helping organizations and communities navigate complex conflict. His focus is on the applied relationship between theory and practice. Fryer teaches courses on organizational conflict, mediation, negotiations, facilitation and dialogue skills, and the intersection of creativity, peace, and social Change. He frequently leads a field trip to Northern Ireland.
Fryer’s research interests focus on grassroots peace leadership and the role of creativity and the arts in peace and social change. His practice focuses on facilitating healthy dialogue spaces in a variety of contexts and helping organizations cultivate conflict resilience. He is originally from Bradford in the UK and lives in the mountains near San Diego with his wife, Vanessa, and two young daughters, Eloise and Lucette.
