Hundreds of visitors crowded downtown New Franklin over the weekend for Santa Fe Trail Days. The annual two-day event started Friday evening, and kicked into high gear on Saturday. Highlights included a parade, a baby and little Mr. and Mrs. contest, a log sawing contest, a dunk tank, bounce houses, and live music from Zach Simpson and the Kay Brothers Band. A burn circus was also featured both nights.
Broadway Street was packed with visitors and vendors alike. The parade featured members of the Howard County Rural Fire Protection District in New Franklin, the New Franklin High School band, and members of the high school baseball and softball teams, among many others.
