Alexia Sprick allowed two earned runs on five hits in the circle, and drove in three runs at the plate in New Franklin’s 7-3 win over Glasgow on Tuesday.
Two runs scored on Sprick’s 2-out single to left field during a three-run second inning, which put New Franklin up 4-1.
Addy Salmon and Jayna Matthews had back-to-back singles to lead off the second. Salmon broke the 1-1 tie, scoring on an error.
Salmon finished 2-3 with two runs scored. Sophia Held was 2-3 with an RBI. Kayce Hundley had a hit and an RBI.
Isabelle Matney and Carly Dorson each had a hit. Abby Maupin had an RBI and scored twice.
“It was a gritty performance,” New Franklin coach Ross Dowell said.
“Back to back conference games are really tough. I was proud effort tonight. We worked hard for this win.”
Sprick walked just two batters and earned the win.
Kaylyn Campbell had a double and an RBI for Glasgow. Keyanna Colvin had a hit and an RBI as well. Layne Sanders tripled for the Lady Jackets. Hadley Sanders and Malia Carmack each had a hit as well.
The Lady Jackets allowed six unearned runs in the loss. Colvin gave up nine hits and two walks while striking out six batters.
New Frankin improved to 3-2 in CAC play and 6-6 overall. Glasgow has a record of 3-4.
