Stealing Political Signs is a Crime

Defacing, destroying, or stealing political signs is not a prank. It’s a crime. It's a crime against private property to be sure, but it is also a crime against the electoral process and enshrined in our Constitution which has moved this country forward for over 200 years. As American citizens each of us has the right to support the candidates for office we believe in and to publicly express that support in a lawful manner. This includes placing campaign signs in public view on property where the owner has granted his or her permission.

The Howard County Democratic Committee has placed a number of Biden signs around the County. Most of the signs have been defaced, destroyed, or stolen. The Fayette Police Dept. and the Howard County Sheriff’s Office have been notified and are investigating. If you know who the perpetrators of these crimes are and you believe in the democratic process of free and fair elections you might give law enforcement a call. You might also remember when you voted on November 3rd that one side in this election has so little faith in its candidate that it feels the need to resort to criminal activity in his support. Given the character of this candidate this is no surprise. I urge you to consider this and vote accordingly.
