Fayette Police Chief David Ford asks the public to lock automobiles when parked. A rash of burglaries has been reported over the last four weeks, mostly in the northern section of town.
One person is in custody. Hunter D. Johnson, 17, was arrested for stealing and possession of a weapon. He is being held in the Howard County Jail on a $20,000 cash-only bond. He is charged with stealing a firearm, a Class D felony.
Chief Ford said his department has another suspect, whom he did not identify. Police have not yet determined if the strings of break-ins were connected, or were unrelated incidents.
