A young driver on Tuesday afternoon rear-ended a Fayette R-III school bus on Highway 5/240 (Cleveland Avenue). No injuries were reported among the 28 students aboard.

At about 3:15 p.m., driver Sally Shoemaker had stopped just north of Unity Baptist Church to drop off students.
According to police, 16-year-old Jacob Rice was adjusting his stereo and failed to stop. He rear-ended the bus, causing extensive damage to his Honda Civic. The bus did not incur any damage other than a bent tailpipe. Here, a wrecker prepares to tow Rice's car following the accident.

Rice was given a summons for careless and imprudent driving.
