Trick-or-Treaters pack Main Street

The annual Trunk-or-Treat downtown Fayette returned in grand fashion Sunday. A year after it was limited to only a drive-thru style event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the popular gathering drew more than 500 trick-or-treaters. Around 35 trunks—around a dozen more than that of last year—handed out candy to costumed youngsters.

Participants included eight groups from Central Methodist University, as well as individuals and families, local organizations, and businesses.

Prizes were awarded for the best trunk in each category. Mickie and Novy Foland took the business prize for the Peacock Beauty Shop. Alpha Gamma Psi, a CMU social sorority, won best organization trunk. The family category winner was Rebecca Clayton and Susan Palmer.

Following the event, trick-or-treaters flooded neighborhoods around West Davis Street. Sunday marked one of the busiest Halloweens in many years in Fayette.
