The parents of the Fayette High School boys basketball team are selling special T-shirts honoring fallen teammate Cash Valencia. All proceeds will benefit the Fayette Athletic Booster, upon the direction of the Valencia family.

Cash died on February 20 in what has been ruled an accidental gunshot in his home. 

Parents of his teammates produced and sold T-shirts honoring Cash with the team’s motto, “Together is Power,” on the front, and “Valencia” with his No. 3 on the back. The team wore the shirts during last week’s district basketball tournament and were entirely sold out on the first night.

“We thought it would be a one-night thing for the first game of districts....it has now become bigger than that,” said parent Cara Owings. “Many students didn’t get a shirt because attendance was limited at the game. And many community members have reached out wanting a shirt and to make a donation.”

The group of parents has ordered an additional 60 shirts that will be available first-come, first-served at Commercial Trust Company in Fayette during the week of March 8. The cost will be a suggested donation of $20. The Valencia family has asked that all proceeds go directly to the Fayette Athletic Boosters.
