Vaughn Cooper, 74, passed away suddenly at his home in rural Glasgow on April 10, 2021.
Oree Vaughn Cooper, Jr. was born October 3, 1946 in Boonville, Missouri, a son to the late Oree Vaughn, Sr. and Maxine (Silvey) Cooper. Vaughn graduated from Glasgow High School with the class of 1964. Following high school, Vaughn enlisted with the U.S. Army Reserves and served six years. He was honorably discharged in 1971. On August 10, 1968, Vaughn married the love of his life, Linda Carlson at Salem Lutheran Church in Forest Green, Missouri. Together they’ve enjoyed more than 52 years of marriage. Vaughn worked as a farmer his entire life, tending to his land, crops, and livestock. In his free time Vaughn loved playing pool, cards and dice, and enjoyed trips to the boat in Boonville.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Linda Cooper; three children, Scott (Lorinda) Cooper, Richie Cooper, and Tanya (Eric) Monnig, all of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Lucas, Tucker, Karlie, Kason, and Tim; and a sister, Reba (Brad) Ertz of Fayette, Missouri. He is also survived by a nephew, Ethan. In addition to his parents, Vaughn was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Elyse.
A funeral honoring Vaughn’s life will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow, Missouri, with Revs. Don White and Ross Mutrux officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the funeral home in Glasgow. Interment will follow the funeral at Rosehill Cemetery in Lisbon, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Rosehill Cemetery, in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service, 112 Market St., Glasgow, MO 65254.
