Vroman inks letter of intent to play at Central Methodist

On Friday Fayette senior running back Garren Vroman signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Central Methodist University.

“I just feel like they (CMU) are building something special and I really like the family factor,” said Vroman. “I like the CMU family and I’ll still be close to home. My family has been there for me all the way. They’ve always been very supportive.”

After rushing for 2,901 yards on an injured knee his senior year, then having surgery on that knee on December 28, Vroman was required to wait until January 28 before even walking on the knee. “The knee rehabilitation has been different than what I ever thought it would be,” said Vroman. “But I’ve just had to believe in the process and I’ve had to be patient.”

In addition to the 2,901 rushing yards, Vroman had 449 receiving yards. He also scored 36 rushing touchdowns to go along with seven receiving touchdowns.

“Garren’s just special,” said Fayette high school coach Mike Thompson. “He has great vision, but his feel for the game is even better. Guys like Garren don’t come along very often.”

As happy as Vroman’s high school coach is for him, his new coaches are as excited to have him heading to Central.

“Garren’s just a natural back,” said CMU assistant coach Tyler Davis. “We graduate three senior running backs this year, and we knew we were competing against other schools to get him. We decided we would rather play with him than against him. We know the knee is good and right on schedule and we know he’s eager to work.”

Vroman will enter CMU as a Physical Education and Exercise Science major.

“I believe in my ability to outwork anyone and I want to come in and make difference,” said Vroman. “I believe I can make it to the NFL and I believe 150% in my abilities to outwork anyone to get there.”
