To the Editor,
The Howard County Republican Central Committee would like to thank you for attending our Meet & Greet event on April 24 in Glasgow at Muddy Mo Pizza, and for your editorial coverage in the April 30 edition of the Fayette Advertiser.
We were pleased to see such a strong turnout from Howard County residents eager to engage with their elected representatives and learn more about the work being done in Jefferson City.
As a Constitutional Republic, our nation was founded on the principles of informed dialogue and civil discourse. We welcome thoughtful discussion and believe our founding fathers would have been proud to witness neighbors coming together to discuss issues and exchange ideas.
However, we were disappointed by the behavior of a few attendees whose tone and tactics—such as shouting, finger-pointing, and dominating the conversation—did not contribute to meaningful or respectful dialogue.
We are grateful to Representative Tim Taylor and Senator Kurtis Gregory for taking time to attend and for answering every question with professionalism and respect, even those unrelated to Missouri state issues.
Unfortunately, much of the discussion appeared to revolve around national partisan talking points rather than a sincere effort to address local or state concerns. This made it clear that many in our community may not be fully informed on the issues affecting Missouri or may not have engaged in the research necessary for a constructive conversation.
Ironically, the most significant outcome of the meeting, though likely unintended by some, was that it clearly demonstrated the strength, integrity, and capability of our elected officials. It affirmed to many in the room that Howard County has chosen strong leaders who truly represent
We the People.
Sincerely,
The Howard County
Republican Central
Committee
