Wendy’s 2nd annual softball camp to be held April 26-29

Posted

For the second year in a row, the Wendy Sunderland Memorial Softball Scholarship Fund will host a softball clinic for girls in grades two through seven.

The head coaches for the clinic will be Tara and Jill Sunderland.

The camp will focus on softball skills with instruction on throwing mechanics, hitting, base running, bunting, and fielding.

Skills will be taught in adult-led stations. Gloves are required, but snacks will be provided.

The skills camp will be held at the Fayette High School softball field from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. April 26-29.

The cost for the camp is $45 per camper which includes snacks and t-Shirt.

Forms may be picked up at school offices and must be turned back in to the school office or the camper’s teacher along with payment by April 12.

All proceeds go to benefit the Wendy Sunderland Memorial Softball Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship fund honors the memory of Wendy Sunderland, who for 30 years developed a love for the players she coached. That love led her children Jill, Joe, and Tara to develop the Wendy Sunderland Softball Scholarship Fund.

To qualify for the scholarship, a student-athlete must prepare an essay describing how softball has impacted her life or about the most influential person in her life. The recipient must have played softball for all four years of high school.
