Will vote yes for school bond

To the Editor:
We will vote YES to support the bond issue for the Fayette School District on April 4th and we urge others to VOTE YES.
Public schools are an essential part of a healthy community in a healthy society. Our own three adult children are thriving having been educated here from kindergarten through Fayette High School graduation. Money invested in the schools benefits the whole community as well as families who have children. Quality of life and property values benefit from healthy schools.
Public funding for education in Missouri is complicated. “In 2020 Missouri was ranked 49th in the nation of school funding coming from state resources ( 32 percent), according to NEA data. As a result, Missouri districts must rely on local funding sources at a significantly higher rate than the national average.” (auditor.mo.gov). Rural school districts like ours struggle to fund high quality education.
We trust the dedicated professionals in our district and the dedicated members of the Fayette School board to use our tax dollars wisely. They must also use other funding strategies such as this bond issue to maintain quality education for all of the students.
Please VOTE YES for the Bond Issue on April 4th to support our Fayette public schools!
