Accolades roll in for area hoopsters

With the high school basketball season winding down, it is time for all-conference and all-district team selections to start rolling in.

In the Lewis & Clark conference on the girls’ side, Harrisburg junior Carli Ellis was named to the first team, while classmate Brecca Thornhill made the second team. Fayette junior Hannah Quint was an honorable mention selection.

For the boys, two Harrisburg Bulldogs were named to the first team, seniors Tanner Lanes and Jace Carr. Joining the Bulldogs on the first team is Fayette senior Dalton Collins. Harrisburg junior Brayden Ott was named to the second team.

Over in the CLAA, the girls’ first team boasted Higbee freshman Ronnie Welch. On the second team, three more Higbee players, sophomore Alie Mitchell, sophomore Isabelle Welch, and freshman Marilynn Ritter, were added.

On the boys’ side, Higbee sophomores Jordan Fuemmeler, and Derek Rockett were named to the first team. Seniors Malaki Squires, Luke Ritter, and Jamie Smith earned honorable mention.

Fuemmeler was named CLAA Player-of-the-Year.

Higbee freshman, Ronnie Welch was named to the Class 1, District 10 girls’ first team while classmate Marilynn Ritter and sophomore teammate Alie Mitchell were named honorable mention.

On the boys’ side, Higbee sophomores Jordan Fuemmeler and Derek Rockett made the first team and senior Malaki Squires was chosen honorable mention.

Four area boys, Fayette senior Dalton Collins, Harrisburg senior Tanner Lanes, Glasgow senior Drew Sanders, and New Franklin junior Clayton Wilmsmeyer, secured spots on the Class 2, District 7 team. 

On the girls’ side, Glasgow senior Malia Carmack, New Franklin junior Carly Dorson, Harrisburg junior Carli Ellis, Fayette senior Laci Fuhlage, Glasgow senior Brenna Hubbard, New Franklin senior Abby Maupin, and Harrisburg junior Brecca Thornhill were all named to the Class 2, District 7 team.
