The Fayette Board of Education unanimously approved a restoration bid following vandalism in December at several areas around the high school football field.
As was reported in the Jan. 14 Fayette Advertiser, a vandal broke several doors, busted holes in the metal walls, and broke out one of the windows at the press box and concession stand. He also sprayed a fire extinguisher in the small black-and-gold shed near the parking lot and broke some pots and a sensor in the greenhouse by the Ag building.
The total damage, excluding security cameras and sound equipment, totaled $19,845.91. The district’s deductible is $1,000. According to Fayette police, no one has been arrested in connection with the vandalism.
Belfor Property Restoration is a company that partners with the Missouri United School Insurance Council (MUSIC), through which the district is insured. The bid includes clean-up and repairs.
Fayette Superintendent Brent Doolin said the bid does not include the sound system or security cameras damaged in the incident. Those will also be covered by the district’s insurance through MUSIC.
While repairs will be made, the district will not make further improvements to the affected areas because it hopes to replace the bleachers, press box, and concession areas if voters approve a $2 million bond issue in April.
