Bulldogs drop two at Macon tournament

Tanner Lanes scored 12 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late for Harrisburg in a 64-52 opening round loss to Mexico at the Macon Tournament.

Mexico finished the first quarter on a 15-5 run and led 29-16 in the second quarter.

Harrisburg cut the lead to eight at the half and Lanes hit a 3-pointer to start the third quarter. Mexico increased the lead to double digits again before Brayden Hudson cut it to 40-34 with a 3-pointer. Mexico answered with a 15-3 run.

Lanes was 9-10 from the free-throw line in the loss. Brayden Ott had eight points.

The Bulldog boys (7-10) lost a rematch with Marceline in the consolation semifinal of the Macon Tournament.

Harrisburg earned a 61-48 win at Marceline on January 9, but the Tigers prevailed 58-54 in Macon on Saturday.

 

The Harrisburg girls fell to 6-11 after a 43-41 overtime loss to Kirksville in the consolation semifinals of the Macon Tournament.

The Bulldogs lost to Mexico by a score of 51-33 in the opening round of play.
