Fayette Alderman Marcus Wells passed away on Friday, August 6, from cancer. He was 59.
Wells was in his second term on the city council, representing the Northwest ward. He was elected to the council on April 3, 2018, and was unopposed in his bid for re-election in 2020.
Wells had been ill in recent weeks. The last city council meeting he attended was on June 22.
A funeral was held on Tuesday, August 10. He was buried with honors in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the White-Bell post of the American Legion in Fayette.
