Leah Starnes and Matt Barker were crowned Queen and King of the 2022 Central Methodist University Homecoming on Saturday. Alumni from around the world reunited in Fayette over the weekend.
This year’s theme was Hometown Homecoming. Greek organizations painted store windows downtown leading up to Saturday’s parade. More than a thousand people cheered on the nearly 30-minute long parade around Fayette’s downtown courthouse square.
The annual Homecoming coronation took place at halftime of Saturday’s football game. Also crowned this year were Princess Sydney Healy and Prince Austin Ennis. Crown bearers were Henley Dixon and Will Sherman.
On Saturday evening, the university held a cocktail hour celebration in honor of Dr. Joe Geist and his 50 years of service to Central inside the Ashby-Hodge Gallery of American Art in Classic Hall.
The weekend-long celebration concluded with a special Alumni Awards Brunch on Sunday. Distinguished Alumni Awards were presented to Bruce Addison ‘66, JB Waggoner ‘91, Janice Roberts Bradshaw ‘58, David Kerr ‘67, and Eugene Peebles ‘87. This year’s Young Alumni Award recipient was Anthony Johnson ‘10.
