The Central Methodist men’s basketball program opened the 2021-22 campaign with a decisive 111-50 victory over Ozark Christian College Friday night in Puckett Field House. 

The 111 points scored are the most for the men’s program since November 8, 2018, when the Eagles banked 119 against Baptist Bible College. 

Central outscored the Ambassadors 59-22 in the first half and cruised to a 61-point victory. 

Four different Eagles reached double-digit scoring including three in the starting lineup. Senior transfer Tim Cameron poured in 16 points on seven-of-nine shooting from the field. The guard also dished out six assists and tallied six steals, and five rebounds in only 17 minutes of action. 

Junior forward Dwayne McClendon followed with 15 points, including four three-point baskets. The duo of senior Fode Camara and sophomore Jonathan Brown scored 12 and 11 points, respectively. Overall, all 13 Eagles who saw game action scored.

CMU finished the evening shooting 53.1-percent from the field and 40-percent from beyond the arc. Central also won the battle of the boards, grabbing 49 total rebounds compared to just 34 for Ozark Christian. 

The Central defense was dominant, forcing 26 total turnovers on 18 steals. They also recorded five blocks and held the Ambassadors to just 33.9-percent shooting from the field. 

CMU will remain at home for another non-conference matchup against Central Christian College of the Bible  at 7 p.m. on Saturday in Puckett Field House.

Central will then travel to Kansas City to take on Avila next Tuesday, and Springfield on November 12 and 13, to take on Arkansas Baptist and College of the Ozarks in the Baptist Bible College Classic.
